The Dreams You're Already Living!

“How we think releases an infinite amount of possibilities to occur.”

1-Min Read #1: The Dreams You’re Already Living

I recently returned from a two-week solo trip in the United Kingdom, which honored a big birthday in my business. I ate my way through amazing culinary experiences, stayed at darling boutique establishments, and witnessed incredible art on museum walls and on stages across the UK.

(I also took communion a few feet from Shakespeare’s grave at Holy Trinity in Stratford-upon-Avon, which felt surreal.)

The trip was nothing short of amazing. Miraculous, even.

This dream trip didn’t come out of nowhere, though. Ten months prior, I was doing a process with my coach where she gave me a prompt to dream into what would make the next year incredible. I had just signed on for a second year as her apprentice, which was already a big stretch.

One of the things that came forward was traveling from Los Angeles to London with her (my coach), and having a day with one of my longtime heroes, Dr. Robert Holden.

I hesitated to tell her this. It felt too audacious. Too big. Like a pipe dream. Plus, what would she think? She hadn’t ever done something like that with a client before. Who am I to dream this?, I thought.

But I told her.

Ten months later, my coach and I were in Robert’s kitchen, just outside of London, having tea together before I had my 1:1 time with him. (A day I will never forget.)

When the day came, however, it felt as normal as anything. Like, of course, this would happen. I had acclimated to the experience and embraced it as equal to me -- and it was lovely and all I hoped for with it.

That whole process of normalizing a dream kicked off a deeper exploration — and it even inspired me to create a 2-day retreat this fall entirely dedicated to the art and skills of dreaming.

The Learning

The reason why we call the big things we want “dreams” is because they feel like they exist outside of our current reality.

We perceive them to be beyond us. Outside of our norm.

The key to bringing your dreams to life is to start identifying and naming what you want specifically, and then opening up to it — which requires stretching beyond what’s comfortable and known. Stretching your mind to include things that previously may have felt out of reach or even flat-out impossible.

As evidence this can occur for you, consider that at one point the life you have now holds things that previously felt like dreams - things that once felt out of reach.

Perhaps it's moving to a new city, your job, your romantic partnership, a creative project you birthed, home ownership, travel, your car, deep friendships... etc. Things you might think nothing of now.

This is proof that your big desires can become your norm.

And with that, our minute is up!

Your Application

Take time to consider what dreams you are ALREADY living. What aspects of your life were once prior pipe dreams? Big and small? Explore this and see what awaits you.

One woman I coached last week did this and said: “I’ve never seen my life as a walking miracle before. But now, I see that every inch of my world is covered in previous dreams. I’m living what I always dreamed of, and I don’t even recognize that!”

I guarantee that the life you lead now is rich with realized dreams. If you slow down enough, you’ll see them.
